I have been tagged by @bookjewel and @alihall to be a part of meme that is going around cyberspace at the moment.
The idea is to get to know each other better. When tagged,
- link to those who tagged you,
- post 7 things you have never told your PLN and
- tag another 7 people.
I decided to add this post to my 365 photo blog as it too, has a personal theme.
7 things I haven't mentioned online:
- I have a phobia of cockroaches to the extent where my heart beats faster and I freeze whenever I spot one. Spiders fascinate me, even though I keep my distance. Of course the reason for this is they make a meal of cockroaches. My response to roaches has certainly entertained my students on occasion :)
- As a teenager till my early twenties I loved heavy rock/metal music such as Black Sabbath, Dio etc. I've seen Deep Purple, David Lee Roth, Bon Jovi and Iron Maiden in concert. In my mid-twenties I shifted and prefer all types of Blues and bluegrass.
- After university I worked in a Long Day Care Centre with 0-5 year olds where staff worked a roster to cover all age groups. It's where I learned how to change nappies (although I have never needed to utilise this skill in my personal life).
- Six years after beginning teaching I took Leave Without Pay for three terms and had three jobs as a waitress. It felt strange leaving the house with just my handbag each day rather than the books and homework and resources I usually carry to school. Coming home after work and not having homework to do was a novelty.
- I am a noticeably nervous public speaker but will volunteer to lead workshops just
to get out of my comfort zone.
- My older brother gifted me with an electric guitar that he built from scratch! I guess I'll be learning how to play bits and pieces this year.
- I enjoy woodwork and have built a wardrobe, 2 computer desks and a kitchen table (I did buy the legs for this.)
Many of my PLN are listed as already tagged. I tag

Cockroaches, Hey? I've always found them very cute and cuddly! Probably just as well you're at a primary school as such an irrational fear might be used against you in a secondary school!
